The people of Agbozume, a community within the Ketu South Municipality, have been awaiting a reliable source of potable water for far too long. The Municipal Assembly’s plan to accumulate 10% of the quarterly common fund to finance the 7.7 million Ghana cedis project, as revealed by Hon. Nicholas Kwabla Worclachie in a meeting with the Resistance Movement for Change (RMC), is woefully inadequate. At this rate, it will take approximately six years (until 2031, the earliest) to accumulate the required funds, leaving the community to suffer the consequences of inadequate water supply for an unacceptably long period.

It is imperative that the Municipal Chief Executive and the Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Hon. Dzifa Abla Gomashie, explore alternative avenues to expedite the project. One viable option is to request the Government of Ghana (GoG) to take over the project, as suggested by Wonder Madilo. This approach would not only alleviate the financial burden on the Municipal Assembly but also ensure that the people of Agbozume gain access to clean drinking water within a significantly shorter timeframe.

The RMC believes that the current plan, although well-intentioned, is a stark reminder of the need for proactive measures to address pressing community needs. It is crucial that the authorities prioritize the welfare of the people and take bold steps to ensure the timely execution of this vital project. The people of Agbozume deserve better; it is time for action.
